/// BIOGRAPHY OF JOACHIM ROMAIN ///
Joachim Romain is a French artist from Le Havre. Born to an art enthusiast and a photographer, it is the mixture of these two influences that is found in his creations, also marked by the discovery of street art when he arrived in Paris at eighteen. He began his art as an observer of the city, photographing damaged advertising posters, graffitied walls, waste strewn on the ground... These thousands of photos are all collections of data from the different European cities he travels through. Then, after having photographed the worn advertising posters so much, he became an actor in the city by first lacerating the posters with his keys, then ending up today by creating real paper sculptures which spring from the advertising panels. He will also sublimate these old papers doomed to discard by mixing them with his own art photos which he tears up, cuts out, burns in turn, to transform them into work. His works are both a relic of the world and a new work of art that questions the theme of wear and tear and the cycle of life. Each of his works denounces the accumulation of advertising images and slogans in the city, the mass consumption of products as quickly obsolete, out of fashion or worn out as the posters that praise them, and which leads to ever more waste. His work has been presented in numerous personal and group exhibitions in France and abroad, such as in Miami and Brussels.
