Mathieu_1976 is a street art artist whose journey began in the streets of Paris in the early 90s where he practiced tag. Arriving in San Francisco for his studies, he created his first street wall in 1994, alongside ZORK 531. This moment marked a turning point in his career and fueled his passion for urban art.
Back in France, he devoted himself to painting in disused factories, using these spaces for entire days as veritable creative playgrounds. Although he studied science at Paris 6, the call of the aerosol bomb was too strong, and in 2004, he decided to devote himself entirely to his art.
Today, his works are exhibited in Monaco and Paris, testifying to his recognition in the artistic community. Mathieu_1976 spends his days creating, both on the street and in the studio. He likes to explore the concept of ephemerality. He frequently covers his street works with new works, sometimes up to several dozen times, and allows glimpses of snippets of his previous works. Thus, the paintings of Mathieu 1976 oscillate between allegory of the ephemeral and representation of the eternal.
