/// Biographie de MATTHIEU DAGORN  ///

Matthieu Dagorn was born in Paris. After training at the Beaux-Arts in Quimper, in 2008 he met the 9th Concept (Parisian collective).

What sets this artist apart above all is his very particular way of placing his art in the postmodernist movement which favors geometric and organic trends. Following an artistic residency in 2013, with members of their collective, they created a collective fresco in volume, made from recycled materials. They constitute plans, backgrounds. The fresco takes on a new dimension: from each point of view, it changes face, the spectator has fun putting himself in scene inside... The trigger is there, rather than remaining flat, Matthieu wants to invest the space and immerse the viewer in its universe. While maintaining his artistic line, Matthieu seeks suitable materials to transcribe the whole spirit of his paintings in volume. He creates a series of creations: from the meticulousness of the workshop with delicate and light wooden pieces to the monumental installation for festivals across France, the United States and Spain, favoring recycled materials, hunting in in the street, he plays with wood, plastic or metal. The mask is predominant in Matthieu's work. And this as if to protect ourselves from enemies, to find a sort of anthropology of the mind but also to rediscover lost beliefs, the natural energies that surround us, the forces that nature and animals diffuse. Composing with the elements, Matthieu lets himself be guided by his process of random creation. The result is always different and leaves room for the interpretation of the spectator who will give his own adaptation, his vision and his sensitivity of the spirit represented.
