André Lhote:
French painter, among the representatives of the cubist movement.
He first followed sculpture courses at the School of Fine Arts in Bordeaux and was apprenticed for ten years in the studio of a sculptor before coming to painting.
He moved to Paris in 1907 and joined the Cubist movement from 1912 without rejecting classicism and the figurative. He wants to inscribe modernity, not in the rupture, but in the continuity of the tradition.
And starting in 1918 he set out to teach painting and even founded his own Academy in the Montparnasse district.
